OUR APRIL LECTURE COMING SOON! PLUS IN VINO, VERITAS?!

THE HUNTERDON 300TH IS PROUD TO CONTINUE OFFERING HERITAGE/HISTORICAL LECTURES AND EVENTS SURROUNDING AN ANNUAL THEME -- 2015'S THEME IS "HUNTERDON'S AGRICULTURAL HERITAGE".  OUR NEXT OFFICIAL LECTURE IS NEXT WEEK, APRIL 29TH AT 7 PM AT THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE COUNTY LIBRARY IN CONJUNCTION WITH LOCAL PHOTOGRAPHER ANNE M. FREEMAN:

“Rural Landscapes: Four Views” Art Exhibit and Lecture

Four area artists working in four media will put on an exhibit of rural landscapes in the four seasons, including many from right here in Hunterdon County.  View the show during April 2015 at the Hunterdon County Library - North County Branch in Clinton, NJ.  Artists include: Anne M. Freeman of High Bridge (Photography), Katalin Luczay of Milford (Oils), Anne Rogers of Phillipsburg (Acrylics), and Denise Saldutti Egielski of Milford (Pastels).  Vote for your favorite landscape to participate in a Free Drawing for a landscape artwork by one of the artists to be held during the Artist Reception on April 29, 6 - 9 pm in the library’s first floor meeting room.  You do not have to be present to win.  Artworks will be available for purchase.

A special Hunterdon 300th Lecture, “Changing Landscapes of Rural Hunterdon,” by Raritan Township Historian Peter Kinsella will be held during the artist reception at 7  pm.  This lecture explores how our county, vastly rural for nearly 300 years, changed quickly with suburban development from the late 1970s until recently.   And yet, so much of our landscape remains in agriculture, open space and preservation.  In the most congested state in America, Hunterdon County's 50,000+ acres of preserved land are interjected with subdivisions, towns and hamlets.  Rather than mourning the loss of our agricultural acres, Pete celebrates what survives, thrives and gives Hunterdon residents such a high quality of life.

The Artist Reception and Lecture are FREE.  Refreshments will be served.  Reservations are required for the Lecture -- see our website at www.hunterdon300th.org.  Handicapped Accessible.  North Branch of the County Library, 65 Halstead Street, Clinton, NJ, 08809.
